Dell OptiPlex 755 turn OFF SpeedStep and Multiple Core in BIOSWon't pretend to understand this. Problem was resolved over months through brute force trial and error and talking with users of Asset Suite. Portal/J 10.0.7 from a Windows XP PC with BIOS settings having SpeedStep and Muliple Core turned ON would hang on the I020 panel when the user entered Facility, Warehouse, and an open PO with no Receipts against it. Hanging would occur within 30 attempts. Application server is Solaris and have heard from other sites running Unix based operating systems (Solaris, HP-UX) that they have experienced problem. Have not heard of problem from a mainframe site. Ventyx has acknowledged this problem, but as of September 2008 does not have a published solution. Turning off SpeedStep and Multiple Core (or HyperThreading) in the PC's BIOS (the PC accessing Asset Suite via Portal/J) seems to be a solution. By webmaster | I020 panel hangs | add new comment

Ventyx decription of problem, Solution Number 00000726Why am I getting an abort running Portal/J 10.0.6 on my new Dual Core PC? The problem is caused by the dual core processor holding the screen while the other is trying to process it. The fix is to turn off one core of the processors or upgrade to Portal/J 10.0.7.
